Richard A. West, Jr., concentrates his practice in employment law (representing management and defendants); wage and hour law; commercial litigation, including non-compete litigation; appellate practice; and governmental and administrative law.  

 

He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Rutgers School of Law Newark, a Barrister in the Sidney Reitman Employment Law American Inn of Court, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.

 

He has published two law review articles:  No Plaintiff Left Behind: Liability for Workplace Discrimination and Retaliation in New Jersey, 28 Seton Hall Legislative Journal 127 (2003); and We the People: Limitations on Congressional Term Limits are Unconstitutional Content-Determinative Regulations, 46 Rutgers Law Review 1787 (1994).  He is Managing Editor of New Jersey Labor and Employment Law (New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education 2d Ed. 2005), and is a Chapter Editor of the book Jury Instructions in Employment Litigation (ABA 2005 Supp.).   He has also written articles for publications such as New Jersey Labor and Employment Law Quarterly and New Jersey Lawyer, and has participated in seminars on behalf of the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, Council on Education in Management and the New Jersey State Bar Foundation.

 

In September 2004, he was named by New Jersey Law Journal as one of its Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in New Jersey.  He was recently selected for inclusion in the upcoming 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White Inc., publishers) in the specialty of Labor and Employment Law.

 

He is a former judicial clerk to the Honorable Freda L. Wolfson, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
