On April 9, 2008, Dennis J. Drasco was successful in obtaining a dismissal for his client attorney Stephen Edelstein, in a legal malpractice suit which had been instituted by Thomas D'Alessio, the former Essex County Sheriff. Edelstein had served as Essex County Counsel from 1991-1994. Judge Paul Vichness ordered the case dismissed after D'Alessio's lawyer presented his case to the jury. Dennis Drasco had asked for the dismissal on the basis that the plaintiff had failed to establish that there was any legal standard of professional conduct that his client had violated, noting that no experts took the stand on behalf of the plaintiff in this regard. The complete story was reported by the New Jersey Star Ledger, on April 10, 2008.
